SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Generals’ losing streak continued yet again in week seven as they were defeated by the Memphis Soul in an absolute heartbreaker, 165.60-161.96 final at the Alamodome.

Generals star wideout Davante Adams had a monster game despite the team’s loss. Adams hauled in a remarkable 13 catches for 196 yards and two receiving touchdowns, racking up 46.60 points. The next leading scorer was none other than quarterback Teddy Bridgewater who should be called Mr.

Consistency because he’s put up at least 30 points in six of seven games played. He threw for 254 yards and two touchdowns, totaling 40.16 points in the Generals’ loss.

The Generals’ offense was not to blame in the loss as putting up 161.96 points is no small feat. However, this game came down to the Soul’s offense producing more late. Quarterback Kyler Murray threw for 360 yards and three touchdowns, as well as 67 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown for a ridiculous 57.10 points. Quarterback Nick Foles sealed the deal Monday night as he threw for 261 passing yards, totaling 22.44 points that were just enough for the Soul to squeak past the Generals for the win.

In the post-game press conference, Head Coach Will Byrnes expressed frustration about his team blowing the lead late.

“I am proud of the way we played on offense today. However, we need more production out of our running backs and tight end if we expect to hold on to these leads. It’s one thing getting out to a big lead; it’s another thing to finish strong. We need to push till the final whistle blows in order to win games going forward.”

This loss brought the Generals’ record to an unimpressive 2-5.

The Generals will travel next week to Oklahoma to face the Oklahoma City Buffalo in what’s looking like a must-win contest.
