Salt Lake City, UT – As the weeks go on, the Salt Lake City Otters continue down a path of disappointment with a 156.26 to 126.78, 29.48 win for the San Antonio Chaps.
Led by a big game from Deshaun Watson, the San Antonio Chaps took the lead late Sunday night as Watson exploded for 44.16 total points to confirm the win. He passed for 309 yards as part of his huge game, 309 passing yards, 38 rushing yards, and two touchdowns.
Both teams had players that could have produced more points. Mike Davis managed just 36 yards on 12 touches for Salt Lake City, and Derrick Henry had 22 touches but only composed 75 total yards for San Antonio.
Both teams could have also scored more points than they did as San Antonio Chaps had one starter turn in zero points and Salt Lake city with not one but two players reporting zero points.
As the QB matchup for week 7 was strongly conquered by San Antonio with Watson, Salt Lake City did have impressive numbers from RB James Robinson, a whopping 32.70 points with 22 carries for 119 yards and a TD. The Defense of Salt Lake City was also a difference-maker with a projection of 6.25 points but more than doubling that by producing 17.00 points.
“Despite the loss, I’m proud of the work I put in on the field, it was a team effort to score the points we did,” said Robinson in Sunday night’s post-game conference. “All we can do is keep playing hard and leaving everything we can on the field and in practice this week”
James Robinson has been nominated for FedEx Ground NFL Player of the Week for week 7, “I’m thankful for the recognition, but I need to keep in mind it’s my rookie season and I still have a lot to learn and even more to prove” said Robinson.
In week 8, Salt Lake City squares up against Honolulu Volcanoes (4-3).
