Mustangs Struggles to Stop a Losing Streak Against Portland Beavers in Week 7

Louisville, KY- The Louisville Mustangs played against Portland Beavers in week 7 and marked their sixth loss during this season with the final score of 117.20-176.16. While the Mustangs struggled to end their three losing streak, Beavers received another win, which marks their three win streak. 

 

Despite the end score, the Mustangs’ running back Chase Edmonds outperformed the opponent’s RBs and brought the Mustangs with 23.60 points, the highest contribution for the team. During the game, Edmonds carried the team five times for 58 yards and caught all seven of his targets for 84 yards. Edmonds this week was good enough to rank third among RBs in the league. Wide receiver Cole Beasley also had decent performances, who caught 11 of 12 targets for 112 yards and had 100 yards receiving yards this week. Beasley made 23.20 points, the second highest score in the team.

 

Portland Beavers’ two quarterbacks Baker Mayfield and Josh Allen carried the game quite hard since the beginning of Thursday night making 45.78 and 33.38 points respectively. By Sunday afternoon, the overall team score took a 130.86-point lead. Mayfield completed 22 of 28 passes for 297 yards and five touchdowns, and Allen completed 30 of 43 passes for 307 yards, 11 carries for 61 yards and lost a fumble. 

 

In the post-game press conference, WR Cole Beasley commented on Beavers QB Josh Allen, “Sometimes in the NFL, you’re going to have to play through lulls, [Josh] did a good job of that today. That’s what you like to see out of your quarterback,”. 

 

The Louisville Mustangs is now 1-6 win and losses and on a three losing streak.

 

In week 8, the Mustangs will be playing against the 5-2 Memphis Soul, who hold a four win streak. The game is held at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium this weekend.
