OKC, Okla. –The OKC Buffalos were able to edge out their cross town rivals the OKC Dino’s in a hard fought week 7 matchup by the score of 128.14- 107.26.
The Dino’s defense had a season high 17 points on Sunday led by rising stars Montez Sweat and Chase Young. Sweat and Young terrorized their opponents backfield all day, with Sweat having an impressive performance with 2 sacks and a forced fumble, while Young also played well with 6 solo tackles and provided constant pressure on the QB. Dino’s QB Jared Goff also had a notable performance on Sunday, throwing for 23/33 with 2 TDs and 0 interceptions earning his team a solid 28.86 points.
Despite having strong performances on both sides of the ball the Dino’s just could not hold on due to the Buffalo’s strong offensive charge. The Buffalo’s strong offensive was led by QB Aaron Rodgers who scorched the opposing D throwing for 4 touchdowns and 0 interceptions resulting in an outstanding 40.32 points for the Buffalos. Another offensive threat for the Buffalo this weekend was WR Terry McLaurin who caught 7/11 passes intended for him resulting in 90 yards and one TD. McLaurin’s strong performance through the air earned his team an impressive 25 points.
At the post game press conference, Assistant Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator Mark Roberti spoke about how he is disappointed in yet another loss but how the Dino’s need to just take the positives from Sunday and move on.
“It always hurts to go out there and compete to not only just loose but loose a game that could’ve been won. We need to minimize our mistakes on offense and our we need more production from our receiving core if we hope to be competitive in the coming weeks. With that being said I am pleased with our Quarterback play Jared went out there and played smart like he does every week. I am also extremely pleased with our defensive performance week especially with the young guys on the D-line. We need to build off of these positives and rally around our key players such as Jared because the bottom line is this weeks over and we need to focus on next week starting now.”
The loss brought the Dinos record to 1-6.
The OKC Dinos will be back at home to take on the Harrisonburg Valley Bees (4-3) at Devon Energy Stadium.
