SAN JOSE, Calif. — The San Jose Bandits came back from their first loss of the season to defeat the Albuquerque Fighting Turkeys this week. The Bandits trailed by 20 points until Monday night where they finally overtook the Fighting Turkeys with a score of 191.24 to 138.26. This brings the Bandits season record to 4-1.
Quarterback Ben Roethisberger had another impressive game with a total of 41.36 points, 239 passing yards and 3 touchdowns. Wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders helped lead the Bandits to a win with 122 receiving yards and a total of 24.20 points.
Albuquerque still had an impressive week with quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick having 350 passing yards, 3 touchdowns and scoring 44.60 points. Running back Darrell Henderson scored 21.80 points and 30 receiving yards.
Head coach Cece Tyson praised her team in the post-game press conference.
“It’s easy to get discouraged after the first loss of the season,” Tyson said. “This week, our team showed that we don’t quit when things get hard. We continue to persevere. This paid off with another win this week.”
This fifth week win brings the Bandits record to (4-1) keeping them at the number one spot in their division.
Next week, the Bandits return to Earthquake Stadium in San Jose to face off against the Salt Lake City Otters (1-4).
