San Jose, CA – This week the Albuquerque Fighting Turkeys lost their week four matchup against the San Jose Bandits, in San Jose. With great performances by Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick and Wide Receiver Robby Anderson, the Turkeys shot out of the gate hot, unfortunately San Jose’s passing game was too good to stop. The Turkeys lost to the bandits 138.62 to 191.24
Darrell Henderson, the second year Running Back had 15 rushes totaling 38 yards and a reception for a touchdown. Ryan Fitzpatrick worked his Fitzmagic and threw for 350 pass yards with three passing touchdowns, unfortunately, Joe Burrow did not mirror Fitzpatrick’s performance, with only 183 pass yards, 1 interception and 1 fumble it was a slow week for Burrow. San Jose Bandits QB Russell Wilson had a great air-ground attack, passing for three touchdowns and rushing for 58 yards. What really did the Turkeys in was the performance of the Bandits second quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger who threw for 239 yards and had 3 passing touchdowns.
The Turkeys and the Bandits came into Sunday’s matchup as the two hottest teams in the league, with a primetime game between two 3-1 teams. The Bandits move to 4-1 while the Turkeys drop to 3-2.
When Coach Golkin was asked about his team’s performance, he simply said “We must be better on both sides of the ball, its that simple. We need to protect the ball offensively and we need to be more active on defense.”
The Fighting Turkeys head to San Antonio to play the Chaps on Sunday for a matchup with one of the best running attacks in the league.
