OKLAHOMA CITY– The Honolulu Volcanoes dropped into third place after suffering their first loss of the season against the Oklahoma City Dinos, 137.86-133.98.
Volcanoes quarterback Dak Prescott racked up 63.28 fantasy points, making his performance a league-high score of the season. Unfortunately, his dominant performance did not make up for a suffering performance from Austin Ekeler, scoring only 2.40 points after a locking in above 30 points in last week’s game.
“My performance does not mean anything if we, as a team, do not all work together to play as a unit,” Prescott said.
The Dinos small 3.88 margin win is owed to Dwayne Haskins who recorded 314 passing yards and one rush touchdown. Jared Goff also contributed to the Dinos victory after throwing 200 passing yards, one of which ended in a touchdown.
Volcanoes coach, Eric Picucci, had some words to say regarding the unexpected loss against the last place team of the league.
“We have a lot to learn from tonight’s game,” Coach Picucci said. “Our egos were very high after coming off of a three-game winning streak, and that was shown during last week’s practice in preparation for this game. Next week, we will adopt the mindset to treat every team like they are number one in the league to ensure we play our best for every team we face.”
The Honolulu Volcanoes hope to break their losing streak next week as they take on the San Antonio Generals (1-3, 570.86) at home in the Aloha Stadium.
