HARRISONBURG, Va.- The Albuquerque Fighting Turkeys had a big win against the Harrisonburg Bluestone Ballers this week at Bridgeforth stadium, defeating them 164.7-128.1.
Drew Brees, Quarterback for the Bluestone Ballers, impressed with 246 passing yards, and 2 touchdowns, coming out with 28.5 points. Running back Alvin Kamara showed up in a big way with 83 rushing yards and a touchdown, totaling up to 22.2 points.
While Harrisonburg had a strong offense, it still wasn’t good enough to beat Albuquerque. The Fighting Turkeys’ Running back Joe Mixon had a strong performance with 151 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns, racking up 43.1 points. Albuquerque Quarterback, Ryan Fitzpatrick, had an amazing game passing for 315 yards and a rushing touchdown.
In the post-game press conference when asked what his team had to do to secure this win, Ryan Fitzpatrick stated, “We knew what we were walking into, Harrisonburg has had a good season so far but it came down to who wanted this win the most, and that was us. We put in the work all week to make sure we could prove that today.” Albuquerque definitely proved it with a 36 point lead.
Next week the fighting Turkeys will take on the San Jose Bandits who have a 3-0 winning streak. We’ll have to wait and see if the Fighting Turkeys have the grit they did this week to come out with the win.
