HONOLULU – The Oklahoma City Buffalo fell to the undefeated Honolulu Volcanoes after a last minute scoring drive, ending in a final score of 162.02-165.66.
The Buffalo had both a strong offensive and defensive performance this week. QB Aaron Rodgers threw 283 yards for three touchdowns and 34.52 points, while WR Allen Robinson’s 10 catches for 123 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown garnered him 29.30 points.
The Buffalo’s strong 15.00 point defensive performance topped the Volcanoes’ defense, who gained only 4.00 points this week. Despite the hefty defensive attack, Volcanoes’ QB Dak Prescott’s 472 passing yards and three passing touchdowns for 48.48 points, combined with WR DeAndre Hopkins’ impressive 24.70 points, bested the Buffalos.
In the post-game press conference, Head Coach Bailey Butler recounted the excellent effort of both teams.
“Throughout the entire game, our team stepped up to all of my expectations. Although our offense put up bold plays and we had multiple big stops from our strong defensive line, the Volcanoes ultimately made the right plays at the right time and came out on top. This was a well fought game and I am pleased with the effort that my players gave.”
The loss brought the Buffalo’s record to 1-2, dropping them to eighth place in the SCOM Fantasy Classic League.
Oklahoma City will be at home next week and are up against the Portland Beavers at the Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.
