Quarterback, Joe Burrow, warming up for a great week three against the Austin Vipers

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – This week the Albuquerque Fighting Turkeys won their week three match-up, in Dreamstyle Stadium, against the Austin Vipers. Rookie quarterback Joe Burrow had yet another great week against a tough Vipers defense and had great help from star running back James Conner and wide receiver Tyreek Hill.

Facing one of the best defenses in the league, Joe Burrow had to step up big for his team. Burrow threw for 312 yards and had two touchdown passes. Despite being out for a play or two after a bad hit from the defense, Burrow still managed to have a great game. Tyreek Hill, who had 77 receiving yards, caught one touchdown from Burrow to help the Turkeys pull out a win. Not to mention James Conner, who had over 100 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown. The Fighting Turkeys are making strides week by week, and will be a tough team to beat.

Conversely, for the Vipers, although they lost, they still had a couple notable performances out of their star players. Wide receiver Tyler Lockett had his best game of the season with 100 receiving yards and three touchdowns. He will be a weapon for this Vipers offense all season. Quarterback for the Vipers, Carson Wentz, had a bit of an off week, throwing only one touchdown and two interceptions.

In regards to what Burrow had to say after the game and talking about the win, he stated that, “I’m going to do everything in my power to win football games and try and make plays and do all those things that win football games for us.” This is the type of grit the Fighting Turkeys are looking for. Coach Golkin after the game told us, “This was a great team win, plain and simple. We’ve got a lot of momentum right now and now we need to focus on next week against the Ballers.”

Next week the Fighting Turkeys will face the Harrisonburg Bluestone Ballers, who are 3-0 going into the week, with a very strong offense. The Fighting Turkeys have a lot to prove this week.
