PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Beavers trounced the Memphis Soul during the Week 3 matchup behind a three touchdown performance by Rex Burkhead to win 192.08 to 116.70.
The Beavers were led by quarterback Josh Allen who threw for 311 pass yards and four touchdowns. Allen added a rushing touchdown, but lost a fumble and threw an interception. Newly acquired running back Rex Burkhead rushed for 49 yards and two touchdowns and caught seven passes for 70 yards and a touchdown. The three touchdown performance racked up 34.8 points.
The Soul had few bright spots on its team during the matchup. One of the bright spots is quarterback Kyler Murray. He accumulated 32.7 points through 299 yards of total offense and three touchdowns. The Soul saw running back Jerick McKinnon and running back Devin Singletary both score over 16 points.
After the game, head coach Kelly Giammarino voiced her compliments to the Beavers.
“We showed up today and put a lot of points on the board. It was great seeing Rex succeed after being acquired so recently. We need to keep this up consistently if we want a chance at a championship.
Next week the Portland Beavers will travel to Oklahoma to face the Buffalos. The Beavers look to move to 2-1.
