Salt Lake City Serpents Advance to Third Place After Beating The Valley Bees

SALT LAKE CITY – The Salt Lake City Serpents defeated the Harrisonburg Valley Bees 127.30 to 118.66 this Sunday at Bridgeforth Stadium in Harrisonburg, Va. Serpents running back, Ezekiel Elliot, was the star of the game netting 27.20 points, 105 rushing yards, and 47 receiving yards. The Serpents move to third place with a 4-2 record.

Both teams’ quarterbacks had very strong outings. Serpents quarterback, Philip Rivers, scored 22.8 points and threw 320 passing yards. Harrisonburg’s quarterback, Carson Wentz, finished with 33.54 points and was the highest scoring player for the Valley Bees. Wentz has scored in the double digits every game with his highest score being 49.02 points in week one.

“Wentz was a key player we knew we had to pay attention to” said Head Coach Donte Neath. He continued, “I’m proud of how our defense handled him and held him to two touchdowns.”

Other key players for the Serpents were tight end, George Kittle, with 19.3, running back, Leonard Fournette, with 17.8 points, and flex player Matthew Stafford with 14.5 points. Kittle had 103 receiving yards and hit all eight of his targets. He has been with the Serpents for five years and has been a consistent leader on the team.

“Kittle puts in hard work and is an example for everybody on the team,” said Assistant Coach Nick Roberts. “He is still young, and we are excited to see what else he has to offer this season,” continued Roberts.

Valley Bees wide receiver, Chris Godwin, had 151 receiving yards and netted an impressive 26.10 points. Other top scoring players for the Valley Bees were running back Kerryon Johnson with 14.1 and tight end, Jason Witten, with 10.7. The Valley Bees are currently in seventh place in the SCOM Fantasy Classic league.

The Salt Lake City Serpents (4-2) will return home next Sunday to face off against the Omaha Steaks (1-5). The game will air on ESPN and KUTV at 7 p.m.
