ORLANDO, Fla – The Orlando Orcas took down the Long Beach Ligers in dominant fashion last week, earning a 142.26 to 77.12 win. Quarterback Tom Brady’s performance was outstanding for the Orcas, putting up a season high 41.96 points and leading their offense with 334 passing yards. Running back James Conner also contributed heavily to the Orcas’ offense, scoring 30.90 points of his own along with two touchdowns. The offense of those two alone pushed the Orcas to a significant lead that the Ligers would not be able to overcome.

The Ligers loss came in no part from their lack of passing, as quarterback Dak Prescott threw for 277 yards and recording 34.18 points. However, the Ligers rushing game was not enough to chip away at the Orcas’ lead. When asked what he thought on the victory, Tom Brady said “It feels good, we just grinded it out… defense played well, special teams played well, it feels great to get the win”.

When asked about the team’s confidence after such a dominant win, General Manager Troy Maples said “This is obviously a huge win, we’re going to try not to harp on it though, we have to look ahead, make sure our team is healthy and focused on what’s in front of us”.

The supporting cast for the Orcas should not be overlooked however, tight end Austin Hooper posted a season high 26.70 points along with his 117 recorded yards. Right behind him on offense was wider receiver Tyler Lockett put up 14.90 points to add to the outstanding lead.

The second highest scorer for the Ligers behind Dak Prescott was running back Le’Veon Bell who contributed 12.30 points. In contrast to offense, the Ligers defense was more efficient, garnering 2 sacks and 1 interception. However there was not enough of a point gap between them and the Orcas to make up the difference in scoring. The Orcas overall offense led by Tom Brady was simply too much for the Ligers, and with the win have moved to 4th place in the league, while pushing the Ligers to 8th.

The Orcas will face the Portland Purple Cobras next week, an important game for both teams as they are coming off of 2 wins in a row. The game will showcase high scoring offense, and the winner will likely remain in the top 5 while the other gets pushed out.
