Salt Lake City – Since the loss in week one, the SLC Serpents haven’t looked back. The Serpents won in dominating fashion against the Portland Purple Cobras this week at Amazon Field by a lopsided 169.44-115.70 score led by RB, Leonard Fournette.

The offense led by a career rushing day from RB, Leonard Fournette, had a whopping 225 rushing yards on just 20 carries.

That kind of rushing performance opened the flood gates for the pass and QB, Philip Rivers, took advantage by throwing for 310 yards and 2 touchdowns.

WR Cooper Kupp is having a career year thus far and continued this week, antagonizing the Purple Cobras Defense going for 9 Receptions and 121 yards with a touchdown to go along with it.

Purple Cobras QB, Matt Ryan, and RB, Todd Gurley, tried everything to keep their team in the game but just couldn’t put enough points on the board. Ryan threw for an incredible 397 yards in the loss. Todd Gurley added 54 receiving yards along with 16 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns.

After the game, Serpents head coach, Donte Neath, said, “the team’s coming along well but we aren’t satisfied and I’m liking the look in the eyes of our players in the locker room right now. Our team is trying to compete for a championship, and we will see exactly where we are next week against the top team in the league.”

Philip Rivers also added, “We put week one behind us and now we’re starting to compete at the high level we believed we were capable of all year long. We are catching stride at the right part of the season so don’t be surprised if we go undefeated for the remainder of the season.

The Serpents advance to 3-1 while handing the Purple Cobras their 3rd loss of the season, dropping them to 1-3. The Serpents will face the number 1 ranked Lincoln Logs next week in the Amazon.
