LAS VEGAS – The Las Vegas Jokers came up short against the Austin City Limits on Sunday in Las Vegas, losing 143.78-102.18. The Jokers were put in several unfortunate circumstances. 2nd quarterback Case Keenum was pulled early in the game (coach’s decision) after netting only .48 points. Tight End Vance McDonald (shoulder) was ruled inactive shortly before kickoff and their normally stout defense laid an egg for -1 points. The City Limits had no such hiccups, as all of their players netted positive points.
The rest of the Jokers had solid outings. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes had 25 points after throwing for 315 yards and running for another 54. Running backs LeSean McCoy (16.9 points) and David Johnson (21.9 points) carried the load on the ground while receivers DJ Chark (8.4 points) and Michael Thomas (18.5 points) were Mahomes’ main targets through the air. Joey Slye showed why he is the top kicker in the league at the moment, posting 12 points.
The City Limits destroyed the Jokers through the air. Quarterbacks Jared Goff and Russell Wilson combined for almost 72 points. Receivers Julio Jones (9.3 points) and Philip Dorsett (3.9) combined with Tight End Travis Kelce (15.5 points) to put up solid numbers. Dalvin Cook and Mark Ingram put up 19 and 7.1 points respectively on the ground.
The Jokers look to right the ship against the Orcas next week.
