Salt Lake Takes a Loss Due to Injuries

SALT LAKE CITY- Salt Lake takes the loss 179.72 to 118.22 against the San Antonio defenders on Sunday nights game.  A large contributor to the loss was the injury to Joe Mixon and Mike Williams.  Mixon was projected to have 16 points in week one, but only ran for ten yards gathering 3.7 points before his ankle injury.  The serpents hope to have Mixon and Williams healthy and ready to play against the Las Vegas Jokers in week two.

Salt Lake’s Head Coach, Donte Neath, states, “We believe that Mixon and Williams will return soon and be better than ever. The X-Rays and MRI’s came back and it looks as if they should be good to go. Their health is our first priority so we are going to make sure they feel 100% before playing again. We would much rather have them for the long haul and not risk reinjury this early in the season”. General Manager Nick Roberts stated after the games, “We aren’t worried about the start because it’ll be a long season and i believe in this coaching staff and this team”.

The Serpents will face off against the Las Vegas Jokers next week at Amazon Field. The Jokers are 0-1 after losing to the Lincoln Logs 182.96 to 158.34 in week one. The Serpents and Jokers will each be fighting for their first win on the season. The loser will face an 0-2 start, which will give the loser an immense hole to climb out of if they want to win the championship.

The Serpents are hopeful for their upcoming game.  With some of their best players injured, they have done some switching around and are going to have a stronger lineup for next weeks game.  Wide receiver, Sammy Watkins, racked up the highest amount of points in last weeks game, but did not play for the Serpents. He will be a starter for the Serpents for this week and hopefully have a similar performance against the Jokers.
