Jackrabbits Partner with Local Businesses
SAN DIEGO, Dec. 17, 2018 – The Jackrabbits franchise announced today that it will be partnering with local nonprofits and charities in its fight against homelessness. According to Keonhee Rho, the director of Director of External Operations, outreach to these charities will begin this week to discuss special events, goals and objectives.
The nonprofits and charities that have already heard about the campaign are eager to jump on board. Manager of the local Salvation Army branch, Cindy Smith, says that “there are two things we love about this campaign: helping people in need and the Jackrabbits!” Sam Johnson, a volunteer from the Urban Angels, which provides food for the homeless, added “I am excited for this campaign because it was raise awareness, and, hopefully, get more people involved; we have been struggling lately without enough volunteers.”
Many local charities and nonprofits arose in San Diego when homelessness became prominent over 20 years ago. Urban Angels, Alpha Project and the San Diego Rescue Project are three of the many that are a part of its campaign. These organizations all have missions that include providing resources, such as food, shelter, work, clothing and more, to the homeless population.
Elected officials and Jackrabbit players, Marcus Mariota, Marshawn Lynch and Odell Beckham Jr. will contribute to generating awareness and interest in the community. The charities of some Jackrabbit players, such as Mariota’s Motiv8 Foundation and Lynch’s Fam1st Family Foundation are components to their endowment to this campaign.
The Jackrabbits’ star wide receiver, Odell Beckham Jr., stated, “playing football isn’t just about playing football; it’s also about being a role model and helping others. We’re a new team, but we’re ready to take on an old problem in this city.”
The San Diego Jackrabbits are a professional football team in the SCOM Fantasy Classic League. They have launched a campaign to help the high numbers of homeless people in the San Diego area. They will partner with local businesses, Jackrabbit players and elected officials to spread awareness and generate interest in the community.
