The Austin Rockets Want to Help You Avoid the Traffic
AUSTIN, Texas, Dec. 4, 2018. –The Austin Rockets are opening a petition on Jan.1 in support for better infrastructure. It will be available for anyone to sign online and at your local high school, middle school, or retirement home.
According to Austin Rockets’ Public Relations Specialist, Paige Dunigan, stated that the online portal will open Jan. 1, 2019 on the Austin Rockets’ website for anyone to sign. This is in effort to alleviate traffic and making commuting easier on everyone in Austin. The Texas Department of Transportation stated that Austin has the “worst traffic in Texas”. Although many residents show pride for their hometown, 83% of people living in the city say that traffic is one of their biggest concerns.
“Sitting in traffic can be very frustrating, especially when you are experiencing it every day,” said Austin Rocket’s running back, Aaron Jones, – “I grew up in Texas, so I have seen the traffic continuously get worse over time. I do not want to take away from the transformation Austin has undergone in regard to corporate growth as well as it becomes a more popular city to live in, but in order to allow Austin to grow, the infrastructure must be improved.” Another reaction we received as follows, “We are sure those who are traveling to our games get frustrated with the traffic and we want to mitigate that and make for an overall enjoyable experience”, added head coach, Alex Katz.
According to the Dunigan, in effort to better Austin’s infrastructure, the Austin Rockets will be having a pot luck this upcoming Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Darrell K. Royal Stadium, where fans can sign the petition before the online portal opens along with the physical locations. After Jan. 1, several locations will be available for anyone to stop by and sign the petition as well. Each location will allow for fans to sign from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
