The Police Appreciation Night is intended to lower the veil between Omaha and the Police force and to show unity between the Goldenrods and the police to try and increase public safety in the city. At the event, there will be free T-shirts given to fans that have the event name as well as our logo on them to further promote it all. All police officers at this event will also be honored at halftime as well as receiving a reduced ticket price and other benefits throughout the game. The Goldenrods want to thank the police force in Omaha and feel as if this is the best way to do that.
There will be a press conference in the month of September to announce more details, the team members that will present will be the Team Owner, General Manager as well as the Head Coach, and Schmaderer will present as well.
The crime rate in Omaha is relatively high compared to other major cities in the United States. The violent crime rate is 47.3, meaning for every 100 crimes 47.3 people will be involved. The national average for that statistic is 31.1. Also, the property crime rate in Omaha is higher than the national average. At 53 it stands almost five points higher than the national average. With all of these confounding factors, the Goldenrods believe it is in not only their interest but also the cities interest to show a unified front with the team and police officers since they are the ones keeping the city safe.
