AUSTIN, TX – Join the players of the Austin Atmosphere in a community food drive dedicated to those affected by the severe flooding in Austin, TX. The Atmosphere and ‘I Live Here I Give Here’, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping Austin flood relief, will host this event May 20, 2019 at 5 p.m. in the Lone Star Stadium. Leading up to the event, the Atmosphere and I Live Here I Give Here will be accepting donated foods, clothes and resources for the community.
Flooding has always been an issue surrounding the city of Austin. During rainy season, which is April to June, the city receives up to 14 inches in rain during the peak of the rainy season. Flooding has affected the city year after year with even catastrophic outcomes.
According to Libby Gross, the owner of the Austin Atmosphere, the players along with ‘I Live Here I Give Here,” there non-profit partner for this event, are aiming to give back to the city of Austin by organizing a city-wide food drive. This event will serve food to the community in need. At the stadium, there will also be a clothing and resource drive for the Austin Residents as well.
“As a Texas native, I understand the toll of flooding on families and the community as a whole,” Jakeem Grant, Atmosphere Wide Receiver, stated in a recent interview, “me as well as the rest of my team want to do everything we can to give back to our community and our family. It really is the least we can do.” Join the team in helping rebuild Austin, and always remember to be #AustinStrong.
