Honolulu’s Huma-Huma Humanitarians

Honolulu –  The Humahumanukanukaappuaa organization will be kicking off their Huma-Huma-Humanitarians social media campaign starting Dec. 14, 2018. According to Honolulu’s Public Relations Professional, Rob Wynne, this will be a year-long social media driven initiative in support of local poverty efforts, and an attempt to foster a better relationship with the people of Honolulu. During these benefit events players will be in attendance for pictures, autographs, and meet-and-greets amongst the fundraising effort.

Poverty is an issue that strikes at the heart of many Honolulu natives. According to Census.GOV, the percentage of people in poverty in Hawaii is at 19.5 percent, which is well over the national average. The issue of poverty and homelessness has become such an issue in Honolulu, Mayor Kirk Caldwell has legislated a number of programs to help clean up the streets.

Honolulu’s owner, David Murdock, had this to say Wednesday afternoon: “We are proud of our new Huma-Huma-Humanitarian campaign. Poverty is an issue that has plagued our city for some time now, and our organization is committed to doing our part. We as an organization want to leave a lasting impact on our great city.”

The Huma-Huma-Humanitarian campaign will begin with social media posts on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook detailing various fundraisings events to occur over the next twelve months. The Humahumanukanukaappuaa will sponsor one event each month. The first event will be “Happy Huma-Huma Holidays”. This will be a local food and clothing drive in which players will be available for pictures and autographs in exchange for donations. The next event will be the “Huma-Huma Helping Hand”. This event will be led by various players, such as Calais Campbell, and will feature the players in under-resourced parts of the city helping build homes and temporary shelters. According to Rob Wynne, the final event for the quarter will be “Healthy Huma-Huma”. Players during this campaign, will visit local schools and work with students to promote a healthy lifestyle. Similar to the N.F.L.’s “Play 60” movement children will be encouraged to get up and move, and educated on healthy life practices.

Honolulu’s star defensive tackle, Calais Campbell, had this to say about the upcoming initiative: “Being a part of an organization who cares this much about its city is amazing. As players, we couldn’t be prouder to participate in these events”. Poverty and homelessness is an issue close to the hearts of the residents of Hawaii. Initiatives such as these will allow for an extra helping hand for the locals, and could go a long way with improving their situations.
