Police Appreciation Night With The Goldenrods

OMAHA, Neb. – Dec. 14, 2018 – The Omaha Goldenrods will be hosting their first annual “Police Appreciation Night” for the Omaha Police Department, starting on Sunday evening at 7:00 pm, October 13, 2019 at the Warren Buffett Dome. Select officers as well as select Goldenrods’ players will be honored on the field before the game against the Louisville Lions. Subsequently, the chief of police will get the opportunity to participate in the pregame coin toss and say a few words to the audience before the game commences.

This special evening is part of the Goldenrods’ Live. Act. And Stay Golden. campaign dedicated to connecting the team to the issue of public safety locally. According to the Neighborhood Scout, Omaha has a crime rate of 47.3, which is 16.2% higher than the national average. In addition, the property crime rate is 53.0, 14.9% higher than the national average, and concerns for public safety are high.

“We must start taking real action and stimulate real change,” said Dominic Palumbo, general manager of the Omaha Goldenrods, “we want to show our unified support with Omaha’s police force in addition to local communities in order to make a positive impact on the city.”

Palumbo added that the Goldenrods’ are offering special Police Appreciation Night reduced ticket prices for law enforcement officers, families, fans, and all supporters. A portion of each ticket sale will directly benefit the local Omaha police departments’ infrastructure. In addition, every fan in attendance will receive a free Goldenrods t-shirt promoting the event with the team slogan imprinted on the front.
