Matchup Recap versus Orlando Sharks (10/27/18):

  • The Memphis Suns celebrated their win against the Orlando Sharks this past Monday night. The Suns won by a margin of 43.26 points, the team’s largest win yet thus far in the season. Tyler Boyd, wide receiver, was a difference maker for the Suns with nine catches for 138 yards, in addition to scoring a touchdown racking up 29.60 points. Suns’ quarterback, Cam Newton, was the fifth highest scorer in the league, totaling 39.96 points. DeAndre Hopkins, wide receiver, was also key to Memphis’ offense as he scored two touchdowns. The Sharks’ quarterback, Tom Brady, totaled 26.76 points, but it wasn’t enough to beat Memphis. This game brought Memphis’ record to 3-5, with 1, 176.88 points, maintaining their tenth place ranking and Orlando’s record to 1-7, with 973.58 points staying at 14th place.

Matchup Preview versus Harrisonburg Valley Bees (11/3/18):

  • This weekend the Memphis Suns are projected to dominate the Harrisonburg Valley Bees, whose record is 1-7, with a point spread of 127.86 – 61.22. Cam Newton, the quarterback, is expected to have a successful weekend projecting 23.34 points, 8.18 points more than quarterback Russell Wilson’s projected 15.16 points for the Bees. Christian McCaffrey, running back, for the Suns is also expected to have a good performance as he is expected to score 19.43 points. Four of Harrisonburg’s starters have a bye this weekend, which will make it quite difficult for the team to collect many points. Memphis will have their entire starting lineup in action this weekend, which will be beneficial. The Suns’ defense is expected to total 6.30 points while the Bees’ defense isn’t expected to total any points this weekend.

 

Other Dates of Notes:

11/6/18: Memphis Suns will host the Vote to Play event. An event for all ages, but individuals must present the “I voted sticker” to access. Children under 18 can enter as long as an adult who presented their “I voted sticker” accompanies them. Fans will get the chance to go on special tours of the stadium, meet the players and coaches, and participate in various drills on the field. Event will be running from 10a.m. – 6p.m. to provide a flexible schedule for individuals to attend, players will be on a rotation. Meant to strengthen community relations, as well as encouraging individuals to get out and vote.

 11/15/18: Memphis Suns Franchise will host their first annual Pigskin Packages event. Players, coaching staff and owners will gather to assemble to Thanksgiving Boxes filled with canned goods and necessities. The players will then hand deliver the packages to those in need in the community so they are able to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday with less stress.

 11/27/18: Players of the Memphis Suns will go to a local elementary school and spend the day with the students, helping in the classroom and playing with the students in P.E., recess and art. Players will encourage kids to put their best effort into their schoolwork and make it a fun and memorable day for the children.

12/11/18: The Memphis Suns organization will host a toy drive where community members can donate clothes, shoes and toys for the football team to later distribute to the less fortunate children in the area.
