Matchup Recap versus Austin Rockets (10/22/18):

The Suns fell to the Austin Rockets 143.10-129.56. The Rockets are now 5-2-0 while the Suns sit at 2-5-0. The teams went back and forth for the duration of the game, starting with an 18.84 lead by Austin, which was quickly overtaken by Memphis by Sunday night. After Monday, Austin made a comeback from a 44.92 difference, passing Memphis with a final score of 143.10. Both teams had running backs that scored in the top 10 for the league as RB Tarik Cohen of Memphis scored 24.00 placing him 6th, and RB James White of Austin scored 29.70 points to place him 4th. QB Matt Ryan led the Rockets in scoring with 44.26 points. For the Suns, QB Cam Newton led the score with 36.66 points.

 

Matchup Preview versus Orlando Sharks (10/29/18):

  • The Memphis Suns are projected to beat the Orlando Sharks (1-6-0) 122.56- 89.68
  • Orlando’s QB Brady is projected to earn 19.02 points, the most for the team
  • Memphis’s WR Hopkins is projected to earn 20.58 points, the most for the team
  • TE Greg Olsen is still limited from his fractured foot that set him back 3 games. If he is cleared for this weeks game, will still be a dependable player for snaps
  • Hopkins was listed as limited participant all week
  • QB Cam Newton right shoulder injury
  • QB Eli Manning remains starting quarterback for week 8

 

Memphis Suns Notes/City Notes

  • WR Cooper Kupp most likely not playing Sunday vs. Packers due to knee injury
  • QB Newton shoulder injury- wearing wrap/ sleeve during practice but throws mostly executed as normal
  • A woman was killed during a shooting in Memphis Wednesday. Police are still searching for suspects.   • Memphis 901 FC announced first player signings. Former University of Memphis Midfielder Raul Gonzalez returns to Memphis after playing 2 seasons with Richmond.   • Three have been charged in shooting of civic leader Philip Trenary. He was shot Thursday night near the “Move it Memphis” race by historic Beale Street.
