The Lightning were led by quarterback duo Patrick Mahomes and Matthew Stafford, who dropped 48.82 and 30.58 points, respectively. Running back Saquon Barkley also chipped in with 26.4 points on 94 total yards and a touchdown.

For the Black Bears, quarterback Baker Mayfield had the best performance of his young career with 31.9 points but he couldn’t overcome quarterback Blake Bortles’ -0.56-point dud and tight end Jared Cook starting while on a bye.

With the win, the Lightning (6-1, 1,164.64 points) maintain their No. 1 spot in Division 2. The Orlando Octopi (2-5, 920.2 points) fall to a tie for sixth place in Division 1 after the loss.

Match-up Preview:

The Oklahoma City Lightning (6-1) are taking on the Honolulu Hammerheads (6-1) for the first time this season in this week’s matchup. Both teams share a record of 6-1 in the league, but the Lightning are predicted to win by 15.32 points with a score of 127.39-112.07 stemming from the starting lineup projections.

The face off is set to begin at 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon for the Lightning, with RB Saquon Barkley projected to score 25.01 points. The majority of the lineup will take the field with him including RB Phillip Lindsay, QB Patrick Mahomes, WR Allen Robinson, TE David Njoku, as well as the defensive team. The Hammerheads start off Thursday at 8:20 pm with Q/R/T/W Brock Osweiler, projected to pull in 13.80 points for the team.

The Lightning are projected to leave 56.20 points on the bench, while the Hammerheads only leave 6.36 points on the bench.

Season Notes:

QB Patrick Mahomes is second in scoring overall this season, second among quarterbacks, with 275.92 points, averaging 39.42 points per game. Mahomes was named AFC Offensive Player of the Month for the month of September. In Week 7, Mahomes won the Top Player NFL Fantasy trophy for scoring the most points across the league, with 48.82.

QB Mitchell Trubisky is 13th in overall scoring this season, 12th among quarterbacks, with 203.26 points, averaging 33.88 points per game.

The Lightning have the second highest-scoring QB duo in the SCOM Fantasy Classic: Mahomes and Trubisky, who have combined for 479.18 total points, trailing cross-division rival Omaha Goldenrod’s highest-scoring QB duo Phillip Rivers and Andrew Luck’s combined 488.64 points. The Orlando Sharks hold the third-highest scoring duo, 431.48 combined points for Tom Brady and Eli Manning.

The Lightning also have the highest-scoring QB trio, as QB Matthew Stafford is 22nd overall in scoring, 15th among quarterbacks, with 179.78 points, averaging 29.96 points per game.

In Week 2, the Lightning duo of Mahomes and Stafford earned the Unreal Combinations trophy from NFL.com Fantasy, for the highest scoring duo of the week, with 96.52 points, but since, Trubisky has worked his way into the starting flex spot over Stafford. In Week 7, the duo of Mahomes and Trubisky won the Lightning a second Unreal Combinations trophy, combining for 83.24 points.

Lightning RB Saquon Barkley is second overall in scoring among running backs, with 194.5 total points, averaging 27.79 points per game. The bulk of Barkley’s points have come from receptions, as the SCOM Fantasy Classic awards one point per reception. Barkley has caught the ball 49 times and is first in catches edging out Austin Rockets’ RB James White, who has 45 receptions.

With Barkley in the lineup, the trio of Mahomes, Trubisky, and Barkley makes for the highest-scoring starting trio in the SCOM Fantasy Classic – the three players average a combined 101.09 points per week. If the three of them were their own fantasy team, they’d rank ahead of last-place St. Louis Archers (0-7), who as a team only average 93.67 points per week.

The Lightning have made the most waiver and free-agent transactions in the league with 14. In comparison, the Austin Rockets have made the second-most with 11. In Week 2, the Lightning made their biggest transaction of the season, adding RB Phillip Lindsay. Lindsay has since seen the starting lineup five times, and is expected to start this week against Honolulu.

Oklahoma City enters this week ranked fifteenth in waiver priority. OKC tends to use the waiver wire to pick up Kickers and Defenses based on matchups – the Lightning have started six different defenses, and four different kickers.

The Oklahoma City Lightning (6-1) are second in scoring this season, with 1,164.64 total points, and sit in first place in Division 2, and second in the power rankings out of 16 teams. The Lightning trail first place Omaha Goldenrod (7-0), who rank first in Division 1, and first in the power rankings with 1,167.14 points, only 2.5 total points ahead of the Lightning. If the season ended today, the Lightning would win Division 2 outright. The Lightning have the second-fewest points scored against them this season, with 845.80.

The Lightning hold the season record for largest win margin at 97.96 points, which they scored in a 197.52 – 99.56 Week 2 win over the Orlando Sharks. That record was threatened in Week 4 in the Honolulu Hammerheads’ huge 91.88-point win over the San Diego Jack Rabbits, but fell just short.

The Lightning hold the season record for largest comeback headed into Monday night. Down 37.2 points headed into the night, Patrick Mahomes and Phillip Lindsay exploded for a combined 52.96 points to win by 15.94 points.

On the season, the Lightning have left the third-least points on the bench, with 98.04 total points left on the bench. Only 7.6 points were left on the bench in Week 1, the third-best mark in the league. 18.9 points were left on the bench in Week 2, and 14.2 points were left on the bench in Week 3. In Week 4, the Lightning left 22.6 points on the bench, and in Week 5, the Lightning left zero points on the bench. In Week 6, the Lightning left 30.9 points on the bench, and in Week 7, the Lightning left the least amount of points on the bench that week, with 3.84.  In comparison, the last-place St. Louis Archers, 0-5, have left 324.68 points on the bench.
