Game Recap (10/8/18)
The Suns lost a tough one against the Austin Atmosphere this past Monday. QB Cam Newton provided the Suns with 22.38 points as he threw for 237 passing yards, had 29 rushing yards, and 2 touchdowns while WR DeAndre Hopkins lead the team in receiving yards at 151 providing the team with 22.10 points. However, their strong performances weren’t enough as Austin’s QB Kirk Cousins threw for 301 passing yards and one touchdown that caused him to score 37.14 points and RB David Johnson scored 21.10 points after rushing 55 yards and scoring two touchdowns.
Despite the loss, the Suns remain in 11th place with a 1-4 record for the season.
Matchup Preview versus Louisville Lions (5-0)
- The Memphis Suns are projected to beat the Louisville Lions 120.50-92.31
- WR DeAndre Hopkins is expected to have another big game as he is projected to score 20.06 pooints
- This will be a good matchup to see who can lead their team’s offense better as Memphis’ QB Cam Newton, projected to score 18.52 points, and Louisville’s QB Ben Roethlisberger, projected to score 19.51 points, go head to head in this weeks matchup.
- Widerecievers Christian McCaffery, Cooper Kupp, and Tyler Boyd are all expected to have a big game for the Suns this week as they are projected to combine for 52.28 points.
- WR DeAndre Hopkins is on pace to finish the season with 125 receptions for 1,900 yards.
Memphis Suns Season/City of Memphis Notes
- WR Cooper Kupp did not practice Wednesday due to a concussion but is expected to play this weekend.
- WR DeAndre Hopkins was listed as a limited participant on Wednesday but is expected to play as his limitation is suspected to be mainly maintenance-related.
- TE Greg Olsen was added to the Suns roster as WR Jakeem Grant was dropped.
- The Louisville Lions added RB Jalen Richard, WR Cordarrelle Patterson and WR Rishard Matthews to their roster.
- The upcoming game on Monday Oct. 15 will be Chick-Fil-A day at Sun Studio Stadium. Chick-Fil-A cow bobble heads will be given out and the Chick-Fil-A Cow will be in attendance for photos. If the Suns win, fans can use their ticket at their local participating Chick-Fil-A for a free chicken sandwich.
- The University of Memphis Tigers will face No.9 UCF on Oct. 13, 2018 at 3:30 p.m. This will be the first time since 2009 that the Tigers have hosted a top-10 college football team.
- The 5th Annual Taste of Cooper Young will be held Oct. 11, 2018 from 5:30-9:30 p.m. The event is $50 per person and includes a walking tour and food sampling of the finest restaurants in the Cooper Young Neighborhood.
- Home visits are increasing in Shelby County, Memphis in order to increase child wellness
- The final debate in the race for Tennessee’s open U.S Senate seat occurred on Oct. 10, 2018. Democrat Phil Bredesen and Republican Marsha Blackburn faced off against each other in the televised debate
