WEEK 5 RECAP
Honolulu Humahumanukanukaapuaa (2-3) got crushed by the previously winless Boulder Black Bears 160.18 – 92.60 this past weekend. With running back Jordan Howard and quarterback Jameis Winston on bye, the Humahumanukanukaapuaa were hoping for a rollover opponent. The Black Bears (1-4) went on to lead the league in points, behind the quarterback duo of Blake Bortles and Baker Mayfield that combined for 50.40 points. A 34.50-point eruption from running back James Conner helped put the cherry on top, as Boulder led this matchup 15 minutes into the early Sunday games and never looked back.
Honolulu will go back to the drawing board. Scoring under 100 points will not cut it in this high-scoring league, even though the Humahumanukanukaapuaa is averaging more points in losses (119.47) than in wins (103.18). In addition to the previously mentioned byes, Honolulu was without its star wide receiver T.Y. Hilton, due to a chest injury. What once seemed like a day-to-day injury now has cost Hilton a game and will likely hold him out of his week six contest.
No. 1 running back in the league Todd Gurley continued his dominance, as he scampered for 33.30 points. The reigning Offensive Player of the Year was the only teammate above 10 points.
WEEK 6 MATCHUP PREVIEW
Honolulu vs. Honolulu
The Humahumanukanukaapuaa take on the Hammerheads for the first-ever
all Honolulu meeting in fantasy football.
Goff Has Talent Advantage, Winston Has Matchup Advantage
Quarterback Jameis Winston squares off against Jared Goff. Goff has the advantage in every statistical category, but takes on a much tougher defense (@DEN) than Winston (@ATL), making for an intriguing matchup.
Gurley’s Gains
Running back Todd Gurley will look to stay on his incredible pace, as he has a league-leading nine touchdowns in five games. Hammerheads running back Melvin Gordon isn’t far behind with six, which should make for a pristine matchup.
Same Team, Different Team
Running back Melvin Gordon and wide receiver Mike Williams both play for the Chargers, but face off this week on opposite sides of the fantasy spectrum. If the Chargers score high this week against Cleveland, both owners will be frantically hoping it was their guy getting the last laugh in Cleveland’s endzone.
Projections Predict Nail-biter
Projections tell a close week is on the horizon. According to NFL.com, the hammerheads project to score 119.15 and the Humahumanukanukaapuaa 108.43.
Injured Inconsistency
Tight end Evan Engram has spent multiple weeks on the sideline with a knee injury and now wide receiver T.Y. Hilton joins him. Hilton is headed towards his second straight week out of the Humahumanukanukaapuaa lineup.
Dropping the Ball
The Jaguars D/ST was regarded as the best defense in fantasy, but comes into the matchup outside the top five defenses. It’ll have a chance to perform against a lackluster Cowboys offense.
Puzzled with Pierre
Wide receiver Pierre Garcon has put Honolulu in a bind. Garcon hasn’t performed up to his potential, but wreaks with talent. All eyes are on the Humahumanukanukaapuaa management to see how they use him the rest of the year.
Home (Not so) Sweet Home
Honolulu Humahumanukanukaapuaa is 0-3 on their home turf this season, making them 2-0 on the road. The Humahumanukanukaapuaa look for their first home win this week, even though the stadium should be a 50/50 split of fans.
WHAT “THEY’RE” SAYING
Honolulu Star-Advertiser – “The Humahumanukanukaapuaa have are nearly dead last in the league in total points score. Hammerheads by 50.”
Stephen A. Smith – “It’s blasphemous that this is even a question. The Hammerheads will get the best of their neighbors due to quarterback play!”
ESPN – “Hammerheads 149.21 — Humahumanukanukaapuaa 116.60.”
Los Angeles Times “I see the upset, this gets the Humahumanukanukaapuaa season going. Winston throws for 40 points and they edge the Hammerheads.”
Hawaii Tribune-Herald – “If Hilton and Engram were healthy, this would be a blowout story. It’s close, but I think the Humahumanukanukaapuaa come out on top still.”

HOOPLA IN HONOLULU
- Timeliness: Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure is Sunday, Oct. 14, at 7 a.m. One in eight U.S. women end up developing invasive breast cancer and this is your chance to show your support and raise awareness for those battling the disease. You can participate in a 5K or a 1-mile walk for the event. Donations are accepted and they’re trying to raise $150,000 towards the cost to help fund no-cost treatment for underserved patients and treatment research. At the end of the walk, giveaways, awards and live entertainment will be provided. Before you watch the two local teams battle it out, this is where island-goers should be on Sunday morning!
- Conflict: Hawaii’s lifeline to all of its supplies runs through its harbor. A 500-foot-wide channel. This harbor represents millions of dollars worth of food, cargo and supplies to the 1.4 million residents that occupy the island. If any kind of natural disaster were to come through Honolulu’s area, and we’ve seen lots of them throughout the country this year, Honolulu would be in big trouble. The scariest and most realistic disaster is a storm surge. Experts have surveyed the harbor and are most worried a surge would drown the cranes’ electrical components and “render them inoperable, stalling much-needed cargo shipments.” With the island only holding five to seven days worth of food, Honolulu has to pray this doesn’t come and if it does, pray again that it’s all-it-can-do-protocol works.

- Proximity: The University of Hawaii has set a high football standard these last two weeks, as it has won an overtime road game that received record island TV ratings, and a home game against Wyoming that came down to the final drive, with Hawaii coming out on top again. Both games were within four points and both games Hawaii came out on top. With this all Honolulu matchup on the horizon, a win for the island is eminent, but a good game would keep the football vibe at an all-time high.
