Austin vs. Memphis, 10.10.18
The Austin Atmosphere once again took care of business at home Wednesday night against the Memphis Suns by clenching their 4th straight win in the league, just slipping by their division rivalries, 119.44-117.78. Austin quarterback Kirk Cousins once again pulled through for Austin, completing a total of 301 passing yards and 1 passing touchdown for a total of 37.14 points. Running back
David Johnson also had an impressive game, rushing for 55 yards and 2 touchdowns, with an additional 2 receptions for 16 yards. He totaled 21.10 points, playing his best game yet this season. The Memphis Suns were led by quarterback Cam Newton and wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins. Cam Newton threw 237 yards and 2 touchdowns while DeAndre Hopkins had 151 yards receiving, earning Newton 22.38 points and Hopkins 22.10 points. The Memphis Suns wide receivers both Hopkins and Co
oper Kupp out hustled the opposing Atmosphere’s but were not enough to lead to victory in the end. This was the Atmosphere’s fourth consecutive victory (4-1). They were able to hold their position of sixth place in the league and third place in the second section division. The Memphis Suns remain in 11th place (1-4).
Match-up Preview vs. Orlando Octopi
- The Austin Atmosphere is projected to win their matchup against the Orlando Octopi during their game Wednesday at Orlando’s Ocean Stadium. They are projected to score 106.63 points and the Octopi are projected to score 103.82 points.
- Although the projected matchup between these two teams seems to be even based on positions, this week’s game is likely to be a close one, leaning merely 3 points in favor of Austin.
- Both teams have seen solid play from their starting quarterbacks so far this season. Kirk Cousins is the 7th highest rated quarterback at
the moment with 209.72 points and 1,688 passing yards and Deshaun Watson checks in right above him at 6th with 168.94 points and 1,621 passing yards. - The Austin Atmosphere are ranked 6th overall in their division, with a 4-1-0 record while the Memphis Suns are ranked 9th overall in their division, with a 2-3-0 record.
Austin Atmosphere Season Notes
- QB Kirk Cousins is currently ranked 7th in the league with 209.72 points and has not thrown an interception in two games. He’s played strongly over the past few weeks, spreading passes across the boards to all receivers. Cousins is expected a strong start this Sunday against the Cardinals.
- The injury bug continues to decimate the Atmosphere, dropping TE Tyler Eifert and adding TE O.J. Howard, the Atmosphere makes a big decision although it’s O.J. Howards bye week due to his knee injury.
- The Atmosphere made another trade, dropping Josh Lambo and adding kicker Ryan Succop. Succop is thought to be a great addition to Austin, having gone 3 for 3 from 50 yards back so far this season.
- Running back Marlon Mack has started practicing again and is hopeful to resume play within the coming days.
