Game Recap
It was a hard-fought game, but in the end, the Austin Rockets pulled out a victory over the Brooklyn Drivers with the final score being 153.16-139.62. The Austin Rockets were able to have this success thanks to key players like Matt Ryan their quarterback, James White their running back, and Jordy Nelson their wide receiver. Matt Ryan led the charge throwing 419 yards for three touchdowns, resulting in 50.26 points. James White also had a standout performance rushing 44 yards and scoring one touchdown, resulting in 31.21 points. Lastly, Jordy Nelson had a solid turnout with 5 catches for a total of 44 yards, with his points resulting in 17.80. It was not an easy win for the Austin Rockets due to the Brooklyn Drivers quarterback, Carson Wentz. Wentz’ stellar performance kept them in the game with him throwing 348 yards, rushing 8 yards and throwing two touchdown passes.
Matchup Preview
- The Brooklyn Drivers’ quarterback, Tom Brady and the Austin Rockets’ quarterback Matt Ryan have similar statistics thus far this season. Matt Ryan has 11 touchdowns and has thrown for 1,601 yards so far. Tom Brady has had 12 touchdowns and thrown for 1,259 yards. A notable difference is that Tom Brady has thrown 6 interceptions while Matt Ryan has thrown 2 interceptions. Although these star quarterbacks have very similar stats on paper, Matt Ryan has more fantasy points on average with 23.9 than Tom Brady’s 18.3 fantasy points. With experts ranking both of these quarterbacks in the top five it’s bound to be a great match-up.
- The Orlando Sharks rank last in the league currently with a record of 0-4-0. The Austin Rockets advanced to 4th place after last week’s win which brought them to a 2-2-0 record. This will be tough for the Orlando Sharks to compete with.
- There will be an interesting matchup between the Austin Rockets’ running back and Lamar Miller, the Orlando Sharks’ running back this upcoming Sunday. Last week Lamar Miller carried the ball 15 times for 49 yards. He sat out for a stretch during the end of the game, but no injury was reported. James White rushed eight times for 44 yards and a touchdown and caught 8 passes for 68 yards and another score.
- Tyler Lockett, the Austin Rockets’ wide receiver is expected to have a great showing this upcoming weekend. He has been a solid and consistent asset for the team averaging 15 fantasy points a week. He is currently on track to have the best season of his career.
- Mark Ingram, the Austin Rocket’s running back had a 4-week suspension that ended this Monday and is expected to rejoin the roster and play a role in the game plan. In the past years, Mark Ingram has been a star running back, but has this 4-week suspension effected his conditioning and effectiveness on the field? It seems as though we will have to wait and see.
- Michael Thomas, the Austin Rockets’ wide receiver has been having a great season thus far. He is currently ranked the 6th fantasy wide receiver and consistently reminds us why he is ranked so highly with his game performances. Just two weeks ago he became part of history as he caught a pass that gave his quarterback an NFL record for completions.
- Case Keenum, the Austin Rockets’ quarterback has been recovering well ever since his knee injury in the Austin Rockets second game. We are hoping he will come back stronger than ever in the Austin Rockets upcoming game.

Royal Texas Memorial Stadium. https://communityimpact.com/austin/editors-pick/2018/10/01/capital-metro-announces-vision-for-an-electrified-high-capacity-transit-network-to-move-more-people-in-central-texas/
