The Honolulu Hammerheads extend their win streak to four after a stunning, 209.60-117.72, win against the San Diego Jack Rabbits. Hammerhead quarterback, Jared Goff scored a season-high 64.30 points having completed 26 of 33 passes for 465 yards with five touchdowns and no interceptions in the win over the Rabbits Monday night. He also rushed twice for seven yards. Hammerhead running back, Melvin Gordon scored 30.90 points, having rushed 15 times for 104 yards and caught seven of his 10 targets for 55 yards and a touchdown in the win over. He also added a two-point conversion. On the other side of the field, Jack Rabbit quarterback Josh Allen was as bad as it could get. Allen only completed 16 of 33 passes for 151 yards and two interceptions while rushing five times for 19 yards and losing a fumble in Monday night’s loss. A bright side for the Jack Rabbits was Marshawn Lynch who recorded 130 yards on 20 carries and caught three passes for 27 additional yards. San Diego Jack Rabbits actually averages more per game in losses (122.88) than wins (117.43). Honolulu Hammerheads (4-0, 675.24 points) climbs into second place and San Diego Jack Rabbits (2-2, 480.62 points) drops to ninth place. Next week the Hammerheads take on the Omaha Goldenrods.

  • The largest Hawaiian cultural celebration in the nation wrapped up Saturday with the 72nd annual Aloha Festivals Floral Parade. The parade featured marching bands, floats, and elegant pa’u riders adorned with flowers and magnificent lei. The parade marked the end of a month-long celebration of Hawaiian culture. This year’s theme for the parade was “No Ke Kai Kakou E,” which translates to “We are of the Sea,” organizers said.
  • A Hawaiian Airlines flight from Honolulu bound for Seattle turned back today due to a medical emergency. Hawaiian Flight 22 returned to Honolulu after a 71-year-old man with hypertension was found to be breathing heavily, Hawaiian spokeswoman Ann Botticelli said.
  • A 17-year-old boy, charged as a juvenile in 2017 for the Oct. 21 fatal stabbing of a 23-year-old Kaneohe-based Marine in Waikiki, could be tried as an adult.
  • Pearl Harbor museums hoping for resumed USS Arizona Memorial access. The effects of a halt in visitor walk-on access to the USS Arizona Memorial in May to fix its dock have been compounded by traffic-impeding rail construction on Kamehameha Highway, a hurricane and tropical storm, and now, repairs needed to the Arizona Memorial’s shoreside dock, which has partially sunk.
