Matchup Recap versus Portland Predators (9/24/18):

A week in which the Suns did not lead for any point. The Suns were down by one point at 4 o’clock on Sunday but the Predators crawled away with it after their QB #12 Drew Brees scored a team-high 69.54 points passing for 396 yards, with five total touchdowns, two rushing. Suns QB #14 Cam Newton scored a team-high 34.60 points for the Suns with 150 yards passing and four total touchdowns, two passing and two running.

Unfortunately for the Suns, WR #57 Jakeem Grant was on the bench and scored a close second most points on the week with 34.50, 2 receptions for 70 yards and two touchdowns. If Grant was started instead of any other starting receiver (WR #12 Golladay, #4 Hopkins, #2 Kupp), the Suns would have won as Grant put up more than double the points any other starting WR. But this was a hard decision as the other three starting wide receivers for the Suns are top 15 in the league.

A loss to the Portland Predators puts the Suns at 1-2 on the season, ranked 6th in section 2 of SCOM Fantasy Football.

Matchup Preview versus Oklahoma City Lightning (10/1/18):

The Lightning are projected to beat the Suns 115.34 to 74.17. A major problem for the Suns is that reserve QB, Nick Foles, does not start anymore for the Eagles. Now, with QB Cam Newton entering a bye in week four, along with fellow teammate, RB #16 Christian McCaffrey, the Suns are looking like they will lack production (the unfortunate bye week will force the Suns to start QB Nick Foles in the slight or near zero possibility of receiving any playing time – and backup Tarik Cohen will receive the start in replace of McCaffrey). Coming off of his best performance of the season, Christian McCaffrey logged 28 carries for 184 yards (season high), hopefully the backups can provide some production. Cohen has put up stats good for RB #33 in the league, with 151 rushing yards and 169 receiving yards (top five receiving backs in league).

The Suns bench has depth with WR Jakeem Grant, WR Kenny Golladay, WR Tyler Boyd and RB Tarik Cohen all coming off solid games in week 3, expect them to make a start in week 4.

Additionally, Suns WR Deandre Hopkins is day-to-day with an assortment of injuries (ankle, thumb, and hamstring). He is limited at practice and is considered a game time decision.

The Lightning have a full lineup with a number of stars shining so far in the season: RB #5 Saquon Barkley has totaled more than 200 yards rushing and 150 yards receiving, QB #1 Patrick Mahomes has thrown for almost 1,000 yards and 13 touchdowns – in just three weeks for both Lightning stars. The Lightning’s WR #32 Keenan Allen is questionable for return with a knee injury.
