Game Recap
The Brooklyn Drivers lost to the Honolulu Hammerheads 103.96 to 148.36. Despite the 44.40-point loss, the Drivers stayed determined. The first notable move was made by the Drivers’ running back Carlos Hyde who busted through the Hammerheads’ defense into the end zone. This pushed the Drivers’ score in the early game, despite the steady build of the Hammerheads’ moves. The last notable move the Drivers made was done by wide receiver, Antonio Brown. Brown managed to bush-off the Hammerhead’s wide receiver, Adam Thielen, en route to the 27-yeard touchdown. After the game, the Brooklyn Drivers dropped to 12th place, while the Honolulu Hammerheads remained at a steady 3rd place in week three.
Match-up Preview vs Austin Rockets
- This coming week, the Brooklyn Drivers travel to Austin and face-against the Austin Rockets. The Rockets are just ahead of the Drivers in 9th place, adding pressure to both teams.
- The first week, the Brooklyn Drivers had a challenging game against the Boulder Black Bears, which resulted in a victorious win. This game put the Drivers on other teams’ radars, despite being a recently drafted team.
- The Brooklyn Drivers have Carson Wentz as quarterback, who was 2nd in the NFL in touchdown passes with 33, along with being the media and fan favorite to with MVP in 2017.
- The Austin Rockets are recovering from a close but difficult loss to the Louisville Lions from last week’s game by benching their wide receiver, Demaryius Thomas.
Brooklyn Drivers Season Notes
- Brooklyn Drivers visit the Brooklyn War Memory Sept. 14, honoring more than 300,000 heroic men and women from Brooklyn who sacrificed themselves for their country in World War II.
- As of Sept. 25, the Brooklyn police begin to hunt for a man who performed a brutal hate-driven attack, which included anti-gay comments and violent actions (https://www.nbcnews.com/feature/nbc-out/police-hunt-suspect-alleged-anti-gay-attack-brooklyn-n912681)
- Running back, Corey Clement was added to the injury (to his quad) report on Friday, and was listed as questionable for the game that week. Eventually he was cleared with the support of family, the team, and fans.
- Tight end, George Kittle’s Wednesday practice session during week one was initially accompanied by an injury report however, eventually, his shoulder was not listed in that week’s injury.
