Neptunes Extinguish Honolulu’s Late Spark
The Neptune’s controlled this week’s matchup for majority of the contest until the Fuegos’ last starter, quarterback Marcus Mariota, went for 32.24 points. However, his performance wasn’t enough as Virginia Beach held on for a 136.72 to 126.02 victory.
Despite the win, the Neptunes announced that star quarterback Aaron Rodgers will undergo surgery after breaking his collar bone on Sunday. Rodgers has scored more points and touchdowns than any other Neptune so far this season, and is expected to miss a substantial amount of time. The timetable for his return is uncertain.
On the bright side, Kirk Cousins lit it up in Rodger’s absence tallying 41.80 points and earned the “Elite Performer” trophy for week six. Cousins’ performance complimented running back Mark Ingram’s 30 point outing, which garnered the “Unreal Combinations” trophy being awarded to the duo.
