The Rocks responded to their first loss of the season with a commanding 160.48 to 93.76 over the Harrisonburg Valley Bees, Sunday afternoon. The Rocks were coming off a 1.44 setback against the Virginia Beach Neptunes and proved that they are still one of the top teams in the league. With Cam Newton resting on the bench, quarterback Alex Smith filled his role by throwing for 293 yards with both a passing and rushing touchdown as well as 56 rushing yards. Le’Veon Bell showed why he’s one of the top 5 running backs in the league with 144 yards on the ground and a pair of rushing scores as well as 56 receiving yards. Wide receiver Michael Thomas scored a touchdown for the second consecutive week with 89 yards on 8 receptions. Bees’ wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins proved the only challenge throughout the afternoon with 10 receptions for 107 yards and 1 touchdown.
