Game Recap September 24, 2017 (Honolulu Rocks 142.28-Virginia Beach Neptunes 143.72)
In a turn of events, The Rocks fell short by just a little over one point against the Virginia Beach Neptunes. Even though the Neptunes’ defense lost -1.00 points overall, it was the Neptunes’ quarterbacks, Aaron Rodgers and Kirk Cousins, that secured the win over The Rocks. The Rocks quarterback, Cam Newton, only threw for 167 yards while Rodgers had 313 passing yards and Cousins had 365. Alex Smith, the other Rocks quarterback also had a low passing game; however, Devonte Freeman was yet again the top rusher for the team, proving The Rocks still had their heads in the game but just couldn’t make all the right connections. Another set back this week that took down the Honolulu powerhouse was that there were three crucial turnovers for Newton that gave the Neptunes the advantage. Kicking ROCK-star, Justin Tucker, unfortunately only had one chance to complete an extra point attempt and the team couldn’t get a field goal in good enough range. The Rocks may have a had tight and devastating game, but they are ready to bring back the rumble and crush the Harrisonburg Valley Bees.
