Game Recaps
The rocky start just got rockier for the Chattanooga Chickadees. The team continued their 2017 season losing streak, as the Las Vegas Spades defeated the Chickadees by 51 points in Sunday’s week 3 game. The Chickadees gave up early points to the Las Vegas’ dynamic-duo, QB Drew Brees and Running Back Todd Gurley, and continued to trail behind the Spades for the rest of the matchup. Chickadees running back Lamar Miller’s 56 rushing yards and 7 receiving yards just could not compete the numbers Gurley put up on Sunday’s game. With a total of 113 rushing yards and 36 receiving yards, Gurley dominated the Spade’s offensive game, a performance Chattanooga’s defense couldn’t beat. While the Chickadees failed to catch up with the Spades at any point, Chattanooga QB Jameis Winston played a consistent, solid game, with a total of 328 passing yards, 2 touch down passes, and 4 rushing yards. While Winston’s performance was steady, it wasn’t enough to bring home a win for Chattanooga.
Matchup Preview
- Ranked at #6 with a 1-2-0 record, the Madison Moose will be the #8 Chattanooga Chickadees opponent in the week 4 match up.
- Moose wide receiver Doug Baldwin is ranked only position higher than Chickadees wide receiver Alshon Jeffery, and the two have been showing similar stats all season.
- Chickadees RB Leonard Fournette is projected to score 16.88 points, surpassing the Moose RB Jordan Howard’s projected score by 1 point.
- Chattanooga QB Jameis Winston will need to continue to perform well as he faces Madison’s top 5 ranked QB, Russell Wilson.
- Chickadees WR J.J. Nelson had limited practice this week due to a hamstring injury, and it is questionable whether he will be playing in the week 4 matchup.
- The Chattanooga defense will have to build their strategy around Madison key player RB Chris Thompson.
