Game Recap
The Virginia Beach Sharks struggled against the Baltimore Bayhawks this weekend as they fell 119.96-178.94. This game will be the Shark’s third loss in a row dropping them to the ninth spot in the SCOM League. Eli Manning completed 240 yards for three touchdowns making him the Shark’s top scorer this week with 30 points. Wide Receiver A.J. Green caught passes for a total of 68 yards and had one touchdown to earn the Sharks 19.8 points. The Sharks running game was held together by running back Jeremy Hill who scored a touchdown early in the first half and finished the game with a total of 46 rushing yards. The Bayhawks dominated offensively with wide receivers Odell Beckham and Davante Adams having a combined 253 receiving yards. Running back DeMarco Murray was the top scorer for the Bayhawks as he rushed for 123 yards and had 33 receiving yards to earn 33 points for his team. Ultimately, the Bayhawks dominated the offensive game and was no match for Virginia Beach.
Matchup Preview
- Virginia Beach Sharks (4-6-0) will be up against the Memphis Monsters (2-8-0) who are trying to come back from a two game losing streak in Week 11.
- Memphis has no outstanding injuries going into Week 11.
- Quarterbacks Colin Kaepernick and Kirk Cousins are projected to be the Monster’s high scorers with a combined total of 25.18 points.
- Monster’s wide receiver Allen Robinson was last week’s top scorer and with an increased amount of catches and yardage he will be a target for the Shark’s defense.
- The Memphis Monsters currently have 6 trade waivers
- The Virginia Beach Sharks No. 9 and the Memphis Monsters are No. 12
Virginia Beach Sharks Season Notes
- Running back J. Anderson has currently been listed on the Injury Reserve due to a knee injury and this week officially announced he be out for the remainder of the season.
- Quarterback Andy Dalton hurt his right shoulder during last week’s game against the Bayhawks and has been listed as a limited practice participant in order to make an appearance in this weekend’s game against the Monsters.
- Tight end Jack Doyle will be starting in place of Charles Clay this week due to Clay’s underperformance.
- Anti-Trump protesters marched through the streets of downtown Norfolk last week in response to the presidential election results. Going along with their statement last week the Virginia Beach Sharks are continuing to encourage all residents to stay respectful of one another and move forward as one united community.
- A $1.5 million purchase of the Intracoastal Waterway went through this week in efforts to build more restaurants and a new visitor center in Virginia Beach. The Great Bridge Battlefield & Waterways Visitor Center project has been approved to move forward as part of the city’s plan to increase tourism and restoration in the Chesapeake area.
