Game Recap
The Honolulu Megaladons (4-4) were defeated by the Memphis Monsters (2-6) by a score of 135.12 to 152.10. Memphis was led by quarterback Kirk Cousins with 46.22 points as he threw for a career high 458 passing yards. Memphis also got solid production from running back Matt Forte who found the end zone twice and added 82 rush yards for a final score of 23.80. Honolulu were led by quarterback Derek Carr who eclipsed the 500-yard mark en-route to a 58.82-point performance. The Megaladons were without the service of running back Bobby Rainey and quarterback Brian Hoyer due to bye weeks and injuries.
Derek Carr has continued to be the league’s most productive quarterback as he leads the league in total points with 272.94 points this season. Carr’s only blemish this week came when he lost a fumble, but he otherwise avoided any major mistakes while connecting with 10 different targets.
In Week 9, Carr will try and help the Megaladon’s snap their current three game losing streak against the Orlando Blooms who are also 4-4.
Matchup Preview
- Honolulu is projected to lose to Orlando by a score of 94.74-62.12
- The Orlando Blooms are led by their two terrific rookies in quarterback Dak Prescott and running back Ezekiel Elliot. Both Elliot and Prescott have surpassed the 20.00-point margin in three straight games.
- Honolulu has been carried by a core receiver group of Marvin Jones and Michael Crabtree. Both are projected to eclipse the 16.00-point line in their respective games.
- Orlando will need to keep an eye on the status of Julius Thomas and Carlos Hyde since both have been limited in practice this week. Both are listed as game time decisions.
- Honolulu third round pick Arian Foster will not play in his 5th straight game due to his retirement and injuries.
- Orlando Bloom’s best running back Lamar Miller will not play this week due to his team’s bye week.
- The winner of this week’s matchup will gain sole position of 3rd week in the league.
Honolulu Megladons Season Notes
- The Megladons have a server case of the injury bug running through the team. Players that are listed as out our doubtful are Bobby Rainey, Brian Hoyer, Arian Foster, Sammy Watkins, and Dez Bryant.
- The saving grace so far this year has been the quarterback play. Derek Carr is the number three overall player in the league as he has amassed 272.94 points. Honolulu has also had success from their other quarterback Joe Flacco who just recently had 27.00 point performance against the Redskins
- Honolulu started the season off 4-1, ranking in the top two of the league, but the Meglandon’s have taken a turn for the bad losing their last three matchups
- The Megladons will finally have Dez Bryant in the starting lineup for the first time this year since Week 2.
- The state has begun warning homeless people living underneath a highway viaduct in Honolulu that they must leave the area to make way for a new construction project.
- Honolulu is high on the list of costly U.S. metro areas that Americans are leaving for more affordable regions of the country, according to an analysis of census data by home-tracker Trulia.
- The City of Honolulu is buying an apartment building for $6.9 million to help house homeless families.
- The third HONOLULU Fashion Week at the Hawai‘i Convention Center on Nov. 10, 11 and 12. There are 11 runway shows featuring top models, a pop-up marketplace where you can shop the trends and a whirl of activities.
