Armadillos Armor isn’t Strong Enough to Defeat the Salamanders (Week 3, Game Note 2)

The Austin Armadillos will be traveling to Graham Elementary School on Friday, September 30, as part of the team’s Fit for Kids program. The Fit for Kids program is aimed at encouraging members of the youth community to make healthy choices and lead active lifestyles. Students at Graham Elementary will be able to participate in various games and activities with Armadillos players, such as warm-up drills, relays, flag football and more. In addition, the Austin Armadillos have partnered with Whole Foods, who will provide fresh, healthy snacks for students as they participate in this daylong event. This is a way for the Austin Armadillos to give back to their supportive community and encourage kids to stay active and healthy.

Week 3 Game Recap

This week, the Columbia Salamanders delivered the Austin Armadillos their first loss of the season by a score of 143.70-141.84, bringing the Armadillos to 2-1. The Salamanders were able to swim to victory with Matthew Stafford and Jameis Winston leading the team with an astounding 86 combined points. Stafford threw for 385 yards with three touchdowns while Winston amassed 405 passing yards with three touchdowns. The Armadillos had a very balanced performance, as four players scored 21 points or more. These players were running backs Charles Sims (24.4) and David Johnson (26.1), and wide receivers Jarvis “Juice” Landry (29.9) and DeSean Jackson (21.6). This was the first week that running back Charles Sims found himself in the starting lineup. Quarterback Carson Palmer struggled this week, as he was only able to score 3.48 points, despite averaging 30.55 points in the two preceding weeks.
