- October 1: Walk to End Hunger – the entire team and some franchise executives will join with the Harry Chapin Foundation of Orlando, FL to walk a 5K in order to raise money to end hunger in the Orlando area and around the country
- October 8: Domestic Violence Awareness Luncheon – team players and franchise executives along with Orlando residents and guest speakers are welcomed to a lunch event in order to raise awareness for the growing issue of domestic violence. As this issue is prevalent in the Orlando community, the team and franchise would like to use this opportunity to build relationships with the local residents of the city that they represent.
Game Recaps (Orlando Blooms vs. Baltimore Bayhawks, W, 135.18 – 131.96)
The 0-2 Orlando Blooms squeaked past the undefeated Baltimore Bayhawks and managed to come out on top with an almost 3 point lead at the end of the game. There were a few team members for Orlando that played key roles in this week’s victory. These few are led by Dak Prescott (QB) who completed 248 passing yards and scored 2 touchdowns, one passing and one running. Prescott brought in 37.52 points for the Blooms. Another standout of the night was Demaryius Thomas (WR) racked up 100 receiving yards and also completed a pass for a touchdown for Orlando. This was a season high in yards for Thomas. The Orlando defense played a tough game of back and forth, but ultimately helped the Blooms to a W on Sunday.
Matchup Preview (Orlando Blooms vs. Memphis Monsters, Sept. 29 – Oct. 2)
The Orlando Blooms (1-2) will face the Memphis Monsters (0-3) this coming week with a small, one game advantage that could make a difference to the Blooms.
- The Blooms currently have a total of 357.74 after gaining 131.18 in last weeks game against the Baltimore Bayhawks
- The Memphis Monsters have 374.58 after week 3, however are on a 3-game, full-season losing streak that may work well for Orlando
- The Memphis Monsters are the only team in the league with a 0 wins record
- Despite a losing record, the Monster are projected to outscore the Blooms 131.66 – 113.30
Orlando Blooms Season Notes
- After tough losses in the first two consecutive games, the Orlando blooms fought their way to a well-deserved win in week 3 against the Baltimore Bayhawks.
- Before the Baltimore game, the Bayhawks were the only undefeated team in the league. After a tough loss to the Blooms, the Bayhawks are now 2-1 but still 3rd in the league.
- After trading QB Sam Bradford for QB Dak Prescott, the Blooms offensive line shows more promise and determination, as seen in game 3.
- So far, no injuries have been reported for the Blooms.
- On September 27, representatives from the ACC visited Orlando as part of the process of determining the new location of the “neutral-site” for the football title game (ESPN, 2016).
