Game Recap
The Oklahoma City Orioles could not seem to get anything going last week against the Honolulu Megalodons, with a crushing defeat of 147.52-74.78. It began on the defensive side of the ball where the defense could not stop the air attack of Joe Flacco who tallied 28.76 points for the Megalodons, leaving the Orioles defense with a lousy 3 points. Additionally, the stars of the Orioles were kept in check. Marcus Mariota was sloppy with the ball committing three turnovers on his way to a disappointing 3.76 point outing. While MVP candidate Julio Jones was unable to locate the ball, catching only one of seven targets, registering only 2.6 points. Mark Ingram was the sole bright spot for the Orioles contributing in the rushing and receiving game, while also adding a receiving touchdown, and a 2-point conversion. He finished his day with 22.7 points for the Orioles. It was a bruising matchup for the Orioles in which they saw Russell Wilson have to leave the game with injury, and Willie Snead who was originally considered available, was changed to unavailable just before game time.
Matchup Preview
- The Oklahoma City Orioles look to get back on track against the Harrisonburg Valley Bees on Sunday night in Oklahoma City.
- The Oklahoma City Orioles have to find a way to get more production out of their quarterbacks Russell Wilson, and Marcus Mariota who have prone to turn the ball over this season. Both look to get back on track against a week Harrisonburg Valley Bee defense.
- Matt Ryan has led the way for the Harrisonburg Valley Bees that sit at eighth in the standings currently averaging over 38 points a game from the quarterback position. The struggling Orioles defense will have to find a way to keep him in check in order to think about leaving with a victory on Sunday.
- The most intriguing matchup though seems to be on the offensive side of the ball for both teams. Julio Jones of the Oklahoma City Orioles, and Greg Olsen of the Harrisonburg Valley Bees, both struggled respectively in their games on Sunday. In order for their teams to have success, these two men must produce a great performance on Sunday night.
- Mark Ingram showed the first sight of life for the Oklahoma City Orioles running backs last week registering 22 points. With Thomas Rawls out for a few weeks with a fibula injury, Ingram will have to continue to carry the load in the backfield with the Orioles. His production on Sunday night could be very indicative of how the team preforms as well.
