Week 2 Game Notes
9/15 – 9/19
Columbia Salamanders (L) vs. Virginia Beach Sharks (W)
Final Score: 108.52 – 147.46
Recap: Heading into the week, the matchup between the Salamanders and the Sharks was projected to be a close game. Both teams were undefeated; the Salamanders had just come off a blowout win over the Richmond Renegades, while the Sharks had come off a huge 72 point win over the Orlando Blooms. As of 4pm Sunday, the teams were locked up at 60 points. With the Sharks projected to finish with 93 points, a huge game by Eli Manning for the Sharks combined with a disappointing game from Jameis Winston led the Sharks to pull away from the Salamanders, a lead which the Salamanders could never overcome. Winston put up a miserable 5.62 points for the Salamanders after losing a fumble and recording four interceptions on the day. The Sharks defense also provided a huge spark, allowing only seven points and forcing five turnovers, while adding a defensive touchdown.
Next Week Matchup Preview:

- Also listed as questionable with a knee injury, Salamanders RB Jamaal Charles hasn’t seen minutes yet this season.
- Coming off of two straight big games, Sharks RB David Johnson will be tough to stop in week 3.

- Salamanders RB Latavius Murray comes off of a solid 22 point week 2 performance
- Salamanders WR Julian Edelman has been consistent through the first 2 weeks of the season, averaging 15 points/game.
