LOS ANGELES – Peyton Manning surpassed Brett Favre’s record of 71,838 passing yards on Sunday in Honolulu to become first on the list in all-time passing yards.

Manning broke the record originally set by Favre back in 2010 during the first quarter against the Hammerheads after he completed a 4-yard pass to halfback Ronnie Hillman. Following the completion, referees stopped the game as fans showed their respect to Manning with a standing ovation. While it took Favre 19 seasons to reach the milestone, Manning was able to reach it in his 18th.

“I’d rather win an NFL championship than receive certain individual recognition any day of the week, but it’s nice to know the work I’ve put in throughout my career has somewhat paid off.” said Manning after the game. He also added, “There’s no way I’d ever be able to reach this mark without the teammates who’ve supported me over the years. They deserve this record just as much as I do.”

Manning is on pace this year for a 15th season with at least 4,000 passing yards. He will look to add on to his passing yards record when the Legends face Virginia Beach next week.
