LOUISVILLE, Ky., November 16, 2015- People of the Louisville community have been strongly impacted by the natural disaster of a severe wild fire that took out more of Papa John’s Stadium. Though no lives were lost, there is still major debris left over, which not only impacts the staff and players of the Lizards, but also the surrounding community.

For Week 9, The Louisville Lizards will be donating five dollars for every ticket sold to help families in the community who have been impacted by the Louisville wild fire. Schools, shopping centers, and some homes have been destroyed. People’s lives have been changed drastically. “It may not seem like a lot, but it will add up and we will make a difference is this community,” stated Jake Skolnick, General Manager of the team.

The Lizards have also dealt with changes, not as drastic, but the fire took away a good section of their stadium, and because of this they wish to reach out to their community to work together and make a positive change and ultimately get the people of Louisville back to their original lives. “We know it’s not just going to happen over night, but things will get better, we have a strong fan base and even stronger community as a whole, in times of need like this one we come together as one,” stated Matt Cohn, Sports Information Director of the Lizards.

Though the Lizards hope to make a run in the playoffs, their community’s well-being is top priority as of right now. If you have any donations or other possible fundraising ideas.  Please contact sita@lizards.com or call (240) 604- 5634 with any questions or concerns.
