Oranges release Winston and pick-up free agent Dwayne Harris
ORLANDO, Fla. – On Wednesday morning, Orlando Oranges’ head coach, Nathan Baker, announced that the team would be releasing Jameis Winston, following the incident that occurred with fans after their home game against the Memphis Blues. Wide receiver Dwayne Harris will be taking his place on the roster for the remainder of the season.
Following the Sunday night loss, Winston got into a violent altercation with multiple fans, which resulted in his indefinite suspension from the league.
“The actions that Winston displayed Sunday night do not align with the values of our organization,” stated coach Baker. “After a detailed internal investigation we have decided to release Winston from the team.”
With Winston’s spot on the roster open, the Oranges signed the New York Giant’s WR Harris. This season Harris has ran for 222 receiving yards and has returned 17 punts for a total of 132 yards.
“We look forward to welcoming Harris into the Orlando community,” stated Baker. “I believe that he will be a great asset ithin the team to improve our level of play.”
The Oranges will face the Los Vegas Luck at home in a Sunday night showdown. The broadcast will air on Fox News Channel WOFL-TV with the pregame show beginning an hour before kickoff at 7:30 p.m.
