Yeldon’s Youngsters a Huge Success for Memphis Youth

tj-yeldonMEMPHIS, Tenn – On October 19, 2015, the Memphis Blues lost in a heartbreaker to the Los Angeles Legends. However, th
e bigger story was what happened off the field during the week. Memphis Blues running back, TJ Yeldon, had a positive impact on the Memphis youth with his program Yeldon’s Youngsters.

The Yeldon’s Youngsters’ first event was a flag football tournament with TJ Yeldon and the University of Memphis football players as head coaches. The turnout was incredible where about 2,000 youth participated. After the tournament was over, Yeldon and the University of Memphis players signed autographs for the kids. “For many of these kids it was their first time being in a professional stadium, like Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium, it was a once in a lifetime opportunity for them,” said General Manager, Taylor Main, who attended the event. This was the first of many events that Yeldon’s Youngsters will have during the season. “To give back to the Memphis community is something that this organization is striving to do and this is just the first step of fixing the youth violence problem across the area,” said Sports Information Director, Colin Hautman.

The Memphis Blues next home game is November 9, 2015 against the Orlando Oranges on Monday Night Football. Make sure to come out and support Yeldon and the rest of the Blues on national television. Our next promotional giveaway is on November 15, 2015 when the Honolulu Hammerheads come into town. This promotion will include Blue Hawaiian shirts that will be given to the first 10,000 fans in order for there to be no shortage in merchandise for week nine. The Memphis Blue, unfortunately, are not sitting at .500 with a loss this past week, putting them in fourth place in the league. “We are still confident in this team and where we stand today, our team is focused on next week’s matchup with the very competitive Las Vegas Luck,” said Main.
