NEWS RELEASE
HONOLULU, Hawaii – Dole Food Company will sponsor Pineapple Night at the Honolulu Hammerheads’ Aloha Stadium on Oct. 11. The Hammerheads will be playing the visiting Orlando Oranges.
The Hammerhead Organization has decided to pay recognition to the Hawaiian market staple and Dole’s heavy community involvement.
Dole Food Company has chosen to donate a $5,000 scholarship fund to a college student attending the game who has entered for a chance to be a participant on their website. The college student will have the opportunity to throw an actual pineapple 20 yards through a hole on a throwing net during halftime. If the throw is successful, the college student will receive the $5,000 scholarship.
“We are excited to give an opportunity like this to this wonderful and supportive community around a sports team we love,” Dole CEO David H. Murdock said.
Among the scholarship toss, pineapple themed drinks and food options will be given away at concessions.
The Honolulu Hammerheads are a supporting member of the surrounding community dedicated to continued excellence. More information can be found on the Honolulu Hammerhead Twitter page (@HonHammerheads).
