TUSCALOOSA, AL (Nov. 4, 2014) — The Tuscaloosa Top Guns set a franchise record for their receiving game with a total of 54.2 points in week 9, despite their very close loss against the Los Angeles Rams. Julian Edelman (89 Rec Yds, 1 Rec TD), Top Guns’ wide receiver, led the team in achieving this record with 29.3 points earned, contributing to the tightest game outcome in the league to this date.
“Julian Edelman consistently pulls off points for us this season,” said Christy Catanzaro, Top Guns head coach, “It’s players like Edelman that keep the team momentum going. We look forward to seeing what he will continue to do for us this season and will miss him in week 10.”
The Top Guns’ offence was on top of their game this week and there is no doubt the score would have been different if quarterback Nick Foles would have been able to finish the game. Foles will be out for an estimated six to eight weeks due to a broken collarbone in the first quarter, leaving him to only score 17.06 points.
“With an outcome like what we saw in week 9, with a difference of only 3.36 points, it’s hard to believe we wouldn’t have won if Nick Foles wouldn’t have gotten injured and Jay Cutler would have been available to take his place, but we can’t change what happened. We can only try harder next week to strategize and play harder” said Coach Catanzaro.
Week 9 of the 2014 Fantasy Classic resulted in a loss for the Tuscaloosa Top Guns scoring a close 118.66 points to the Los Angeles Rams’ 122.02 points. The Top Guns dropped to eighth place in the league after their loss, but with Jay Cutler off the bench in week 10, available to fill in for injured Nick Foles, they could easily turn that around.
Week 10 will be a challenging one for the Top Guns (4-5, 863.68) when they face off with the Daytona Dingleberries (5-4, 1,099.60) who are currently ranked number three in the league. It will be interesting to see the strategy behind week 10 when the Top Guns will be forced to do some player rearranging with a lot of bye weeks coming up for players like Julian Edelman and Antonio Gates. Jay Cutler might be the Top Guns saving grace with a projected score of 27.22 points over Daytona’s Andy Dalton’s 23.46 points.
