Flyers Undergo Royal Beating at the Hands of the Kings

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., October 21, 2014 – The Fort Lauderdale Flyers suffered another devastating loss Sunday against the Columbia Kings 105.10-66.80. This week’s loss caused the Flyer’s record to decline to 3-4.

Flyers head coach Ben Teachey commented, “This was a tough week for us. We struggled to find our groove while the Kings seemed to be firing on all cylinders. They played a hell of a game and they deserved the win this week.”

Flyers starting quarterback Cam Newton posted an extremely average game completing 17 of his 31 passes for 205 yards, a touchdown and an interception. Newton also rushed for 41 yards. Flyers most productive wide receiver T.Y. Hilton posted his third 100+-yard game of the season with 107 yards.

The Flyers continue to struggle at the running back and tight end positions as running backs Alfred Morris and Frank Gore and tight end Jared Cook combined for a total of 99 yards (Morris with 54, Gore with 20, and Cook with 25).

Flyers quarterback Russell Wilson responded to a shaky week 6 with a phenomenal showing this week completing 23 of 36 passes for a total of 313 yards and 2 touchdowns. Wilson also rushed for 106 yards and a touchdown on the ground. If the Flyers hope to do something with this season they will need to rely on Russell to put up superhuman numbers like this on a more frequent basis.

“We are at a point in the season where we need to start implementing some changes otherwise we will have to face the reality of having a substandard season,” said Coach Ben Teachey.
