TUSCALOOSA, AL (Oct. 14, 2014)—The Tuscaloosa Top Guns lost to the Columbia Kings by a score of 115.94 to 164.86. Despite early projections indicating a close match-up, the Top Guns couldn’t regain the early lead of the Kings. This loss dropped the Top Guns to ninth place while the Kings remain in first.
Although Jay Cutler performed better than Aaron Rodgers (37.34 v. 30.96), there were deficits in many other areas of the team. Emmanuel Sanders, Antonio Gates, Dez Bryant, and Andre Williams were the difference makers in this game since they did not score nearly as many points as their opponent counterparts. Sanders, Gates, Bryant, and Williams scored a combined total of 24.60 points versus Le’Veon Bell, Steve Smith, Alshon Jeffery, and Jordan Cameron who scored a combined total of 66.30 points.
The Kings took an early lead on Thursday thanks to Ahmad Bradshaw’s 11.90 points against Houston. However, the Top Guns could not make a come-back and trailed the Kings for the remainder of the week. In a post-game press conference, Top Guns’ head coach, Brady Thomas said, “While I am a little disappointed that we didn’t win, I know everyone gave it their all and I have faith they’ll do better in the coming games.”
Next week the Tuscaloosa Top Guns (2-4) face second place Harrisonburg Valley Bees (3-3).
